Here are all of the Lisa Eldridge Velvet Lipstick Swatches! I’m a diehard fan of Lisa Eldridge makeup, and I’ve got all the lipstick colours she’s ever released, except for Velvet Dragon, Velvet Affair, Velvet Pompadour and Velvet Rain (and Meet me in Berlin from the Luxuriously Lucent). This is because orange & brown don’t suit me. But like Pokémon, I gotta catch them all! I’m so close to adding Dragon and Affair to cart to complete my collection, especially as when I swatched them at the pop up a couple weeks ago, I could see that they both have a fair bit of red. Red is a very beautifying colour for my Bright Winter complexion.

Addendum Dec 2022:

I’ve picked up Velvet Sorcery, Velvet Duchess, and was sent Velvet Enchantment as my order was quite delayed. So I will add swatches of those when I get the chance. Velvet Sorcery has a definite mauve/purple/burgundy undertone to it, which is why it suits me so well as a “brown” lipstick. I love it. Velvet Enchantment is a very pretty, easy-to-wear, everyday red colour. It gives me Je ne sais quoi vibes, but I have to swatch them side by side to be sure. I haven’t tried Velvet Duchess yet. I passed on Velvet Rain and Velvet Pompadour because Rain and Enchantment seemed similar in undertone, but Rain more muted. And Pompadour is a pink shade I just don’t tend to wear. But I may end up getting them at some point.

I also picked up all the Luxuriously Lucent and Insanely Saturated lipstick shades from the Summer 2022 collection, but I haven’t had the chance to swatch them for a blog post. If you would like to see what they are like on me and arm swatches, please check out my YouTube video for an in-depth and in real time version, or my Instagram video for a quick peek.

Lisa Eldridge Velvet Lipstick Review

I featured the Lisa Eldridge Velvet Lipstick in Velvet Ribbon in my post about red lipsticks for pale skin, which is available here if you’re interested. If you don’t know about the Lisa Eldridge Velvet Lipsticks, I implore you to run to her website and check them out. I never really wore much lipstick before discovering hers, and one major reason was because most lipsticks are fragranced. I hate how anything I eat or drink then smells or tastes like the lipstick. Ew. Especially when it’s powdery or floral notes. I like those notes in perfume but not in my food.

The second reason is because the formulation is simply perfect – highly pigmented and does not budge, so you don’t have to worry about any embarassing smears. In my line of work, I do not have the luxury of checking my face every 5 minutes to make sure my lippie hasn’t moved. And it’s quite comfortable too for a matte lipstick.

The third reason (and ultimate reason) is because her colours and undertones are so unique and phenomenal. She has unique colours you won’t find anywhere else (e.g. Velvet Decade, and the new Velvet Cinnabar). But if you can’t collect them all, I urge you to try at least one of her red lipsticks, particularly an orangey-red (I’m looking at you Velvet Morning, Strawberry Shock, Atomic Cherry) because she does that particular shade uniquely well.

The supreme magic of her lipstick I find is because somehow she adds extra to her undertones, and thus a colour I can normally not wear (e.g. orange, nudes, anything described as “brown”) are totally ok, and actually quite flattering on me. It’s opened up a whole new world of shades I could never wear before.
